Miramar Beach is a small town on the Gulf of Mexico east of the city of Destin. In fact, it’s a resort area with a long white-sand beach and plenty of condos that receives a great number of tourists in summer and on holidays. You can also see a lot of retirees here – they come to live in Miramar Beach from all over the United States.
This beach town with its scenic beach roads, beachfront homes and resorts, and fabulous restaurants gives the feel of the beach town of your childhood. Apart from that, Miramar Beach offers its visitors quite modern activities including parasailing, jet-skiing, and shopping in a huge designer outlet center.
Location and Access
Located close to Destin, Miramar Beach is the place to visit if you happen to stay in the area. The beach in Miramar Beach is public so you don’t have to pay for entrance. There is free limited parking available but it fills up predictably quickly in high season when the beach can be packed with people even early on weekdays – you should arrive early if you want to get a space without problems.
There are no public restrooms or shower facilities. A variety of eateries are within walking distance, which is convenient because you don’t have to move your car and lose your parking space. There is also an ice-cream truck making rounds at the beach – you can pay in cash or with your credit card.
The beach consists of clean, gorgeous, white sand. It’s soft like powder. Come early to occupy a nice spot near the waterline. There are umbrellas and chairs for rent ($40). The water is clear, emerald-and-blue, and bathtub warm. With this gentle surf, children can safely play in it. Overall, this is more of a family area than a hangout for college students. Many visitors bring their children to this family-friendly beach and have a great time together!
In the morning, the beach is a popular place for jogging; in the evening, it’s a great spot for watching sunsets.
If you have had enough of the beach recreation but still have time and money left – go to Silver Sands Premium Outlets for endless shopping at one of the largest designer outlet centers in the country. Please note that despite a very large parking lot, finding a spot here on a holiday can be an extremely difficult (next to impossible) task.
