Access and Parking
The entrance is free, so is parking. There are several parking lots with numerous parking spaces. Even when most of the spaces are occupied, there is still more than enough space for everyone at the lake – the area never gets overcrowded. The way from the parking lots to the lake is quick and easy.
Amenities and Food Outlets
There are public restrooms with toilet paper and rinse showers, which are not always clean, but overall, usable. There are many good spots for a picnic with picturesque views; many of the picnic tables in the area are shaded and complemented with a grill. If you prefer to have food served for you, there are some good eating places around the lake, their menus offer fries, chicken, hamburgers, cold beer, etc.
Enjoying Nature and Water
Picturesque parks stretching along the lake shores offer a wide range of opportunities to spend a rememberable weekend. You can stroll, enjoy nature, sunbathe on the beaches, and enjoy swimming in the lake.
There are plenty of hiking and biking trails in the area. The water in this river-fed lake is spectacular, bright blue and very clear. Swimming here is a pleasant experience.
In most places, the area for swimmers is separated with a rope. Nevertheless, be careful, the lake is deep and the depth near the shore can increase unexpectedly quickly – life vests are recommended for children and weak swimmers.
Water Sports
To have fun and cool off a bit in unforgiving Texas heat, you can try water sports using some of the equipment offered for rent on site. The variety of options is dazzling: wakeboarding, jet skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking, paramotoring, even tubing down the Guadalupe River – you can try any of these!

If you’re interested in history or just want to learn something new during your vacation, you should definitely visit the Heritage Museum at Canyon Lake. It is home to plentiful exhibits regarding paleontology, ancient farming, fossils, and the life of Native Americans. A place of interest for children as well as curious adults!
