Cranes Mill Park Beach is one of the awesome Canyon Lake beaches. Located on the southwestern shore of Canyon Lake east of the Guadalupe River, the park offers tent and RV camping facilities, lake access, and a considerable undeveloped piece of land with abundant wildlife. Camping, picnicking, wildlife watching, fishing, boating, and swimming are popular activities in the area. The facilities are few but enough for camping enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Location and Access
Cranes Mill Park sits on a long peninsula southwest of Canyon Lake, which is halfway between San Antonio and Austin. In order to reach it, you should go to the westernmost end of FM 2673 and South Cranes Mill Road. The park is open from 8 a. m. to 10 p. m. throughout the whole year. There is parking available.
Facilities
The park offers 34 tent campsites, 30 RV campsites, water and electric hookups, a dump station, hot and cold showers, and restrooms with flush toilets. The campsites feature covered tables, fire rings, and BBQ grills. Some of the sites are lakefront with unobstructed views of the lake with picturesque sunsets and dawns.
There is also a well-maintained boat ramp, a marina, and two fishing piers, where fishing enthusiasts are welcome to cast a line. If you’re in the mood for a picnic, bring your food for a BBQ in one of the shaded picnic areas.
Beach
There is a pebbled swimming area in a day park just 15 minutes away. The water in Canyon Lake is clean, clear, and refreshing, great for a dip on a hot summer day under the scorching Texas sun.
Sunrises and Sunsets
Due to the park’s location between the lake in the east and the Guadalupe River in the west, sunrises, as well as sunsets, are bright spectacles. If you come early in the morning or stay late at night, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy such a beautiful view!
Rich Wildlife
The peninsula has some undeveloped lands with abundant wildlife, so wildlife watching is another good option to pass the time in Cranes Mill Park in case you’re interested in animals and nature. The local species include fox, deer, squirrel, raccoon, armadillo, mockingbirds, cardinals, dove, swallow, and finch.
Dog Policies
