Jacobs Creek Park Beach is one of the amazing Canyon Lake beaches. The park is fairly large and offers numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation including boating, swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. It’s a picturesque and relaxing recreational area with plenty of good spots to set up a camp with your family or friends. There are also cabins for rent.
This park is a place of choice for a mini-vacation to have a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, but unfortunately, it isn’t always clean since visitors leave a big amount of trash in the parking area as well as in the water, which the staff do not adequately cope with.
Location and Access
Jacobs Creek Park is located at 698 Jacobs Creek Park Road in Canyon Lake. To enter the park, you have to pass through an automated gate, which opens and lets you in when you pay $7 (day-use entrance fee per vehicle).
Note that the parking machine doesn’t take credit cards or coins. The park operates from 8 a. m. to 6 p. m. Dogs are allowed on a leash in the parking area but not near the water.
Basic Amenities
Jacobs Creek Park provides all basic tourist facilities such as clean and well-maintained restrooms, picnic tables with pretty canopies and grills, and a children’s playground. There is also a boat launch on the lake and watercraft rentals.
Beach Area
The park has a quiet and shallow beach area, which is quite spacious. The swimming section is separated by a barrier line for more safety and has a sandy bottom in contrast to the other areas, which are quite rocky. Anyway, it is recommended to have water shoes with you. The water in Canyon Lake is clear and refreshingly cool.
Other Activities
There are nature trails with occasional lake views to walk and enjoy the natural surroundings. When the water level is proper, you can rent a boat from the marina and enjoy exploring the surrounding area from the water. There are also other kinds of watercraft available for rent.
It can get quite windy, so the lake is good for sailing and for wind sports. If you’re interested in tubing, you can go to the Guadalupe River or the Comal River – there are plenty of tube rentals close to Jacobs Creek Park.
