About this beach

Warnings and hazards

Pets are not allowed (only service animals).

Alcohol is allowed in designated areas.

Named after one of Cocoa Beach mayors who worked hard to preserve Florida beaches, Robert P. Murkshe Memorial Park is a 2-acre oceanfront recreational area equipped with all basic amenities and popular with local beachgoers, surfers, and bodyboarders.

It’s a good place for family travelers and those seeking peace and tranquility. Since the park and beach are hidden in the middle of the residential area, they never get overcrowded and offer enough space for everyone. Well, probably there isn’t much of a park here but the beach access is easy and comfortable.

Location and Access

Robert P. Murkshe Memorial Park is located at 1590 South Atlantic Avenue in Cocoa Beach. There is a small beachfront parking area where you can park your vehicle. Not many people know about Robert P. Murkshe Memorial Park so, usually, it’s easy to get a parking space. Entrance and parking are free.

Park Facilities

In addition to the free parking lot, the park features other basic amenities including public restrooms (which are near the parking lot), rinse showers, a dune crossover, and a sheltered picnic area with tables.

Beach Access

The sand is light-hued and clean but probably a bit too hard to the touch. The beach is spacious and offers enough secluded spots for everybody. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas on site. The water is blue and inviting. Swimming on this picturesque beach is likely to be a very enjoyable experience.

Other Activities

Fishing is allowed in Robert P. Murkshe Memorial Park. Shelling is another good option. If you come during the low tide, you can even find some intact seashells.

This beach is also a great place for surfing and bodyboarding and some locals come here specifically for that. Finally, it’s a scenic, serene nature destination where you can relax just strolling along the boardwalk or sitting on the sand and listening to the waves.

Dog Policies

The northern side of the beach is dog-friendly so please go there if you travel with your furry friend. However, the park and the southern side of the beach don’t allow pets.
