Padre Balli Park is located on a nice, clean, and safe beach spot between Port Aransas and Corpus Christi. It’s one of the most popular beach parks in the area, which offers satisfactory conditions to RV travelers and convenient proximity to a beach with a fishing pier, good restaurants, and well-maintained facilities. There is also a free beach parking lot, or you may choose to park directly on the sand, which requires a $12 / year permit.
The beach is great for swimming, sunbathing, shelling, walking, or just sitting in front of the waves and enjoying the sunshine. Apart from that, many visitors fly kites and walk their dogs. There is an opportunity to take a horse and have a ride along the seashore. Moreover, this is one of the best places for low-price fishing; the pier is popular with local as well as out-of-town fishermen and features quite a small entrance fee.
Access and Parking
The area offers various parking opportunities. There’s a free parking lot very close to the beach, just about 200 yards to the ocean, which is very convenient since you won’t have to pull food packs and beach equipment far away on a hot summer day.
Moreover, you can drive past the parking lot and stop directly on the beach. Parking on the sand is more plentiful and requires a pass, which costs $12 and is valid throughout the tear. You can buy a pass at various places on your way to the beach or at the visitor center.
Ambiance and Visitors
The beach is clean and well-maintained, has a pier and such facilities as lavatories and showers, which are fairly clean as well. There are some good restaurants and snack bars in the area, including the pier. If you want to have a picnic, you’ll be happy to discover nice shaded cabanas and picnic tables.
The swimming conditions are good, the water is warm and clean, and you can go pretty far out before you reach deeper areas. There is some seaweed but you won’t encounter many jellyfish, which is a big plus.
Padre Balli Park Beach visitors are quite diverse and come from different areas. You will see families with children as well as companies of youngsters, but, overall, the beach is safe and well patrolled by the police. There are few visitors on weekdays and much more – on weekends.
