Bob Hall Pier Beach is definitely one of the best beaches in Corpus Christi. It’s clean, well-kept, and has all the necessary beach facilities.
It also boasts a very long pier that’s excellent for fishing, walking and taking photos. The pier is open 24 hours a day and entry costs either $3 per person or $4 for a pole (up to three persons). Note that the entry permit expires at 5 a.m., so plan your time accordingly.
Free Parking
Bob Hall Pier Beach is a popular place and can get extremely crowded on some days (especially on holidays and weekends, and particularly around the pier). With that in mind, prepare to face some difficulty when parking your vehicle if you go by car. Sometimes there’s barely room to drive, let alone available parking spaces.
Nevertheless, on many other days, you might be happy to find a well-kept and paved parking lot with many vacant spaces. There’s plenty of parking along the beach and next to the pier, and it isn’t metered!
Facilities and Restaurants
The beach offers all the facilities you might be looking for when going on a beach holiday: restrooms, rinse showers, changing areas, and shaded picnic tables. There’s also a good restaurant and bar on the pier. It may look a bit outdated, but the drinks and meals are good and they have a solid selection of beer.
The views are beautiful. Nevertheless, prepare for a long line of guests waiting for a table… and for stiff prices.
Swimming and Picnicking
Bob Hall Pier Beach is a nice wide beach with clean, hard-packed sand and clear water that features very little seaweed and debris — which is a remarkable advantage for the area. However, if you decide to swim, pay attention to special signs and beware of strong riptides.
The beach is rather spacious and there is plenty of room to sit down and relax in the sun. You can also use one of the covered picnic areas with tables to have a picnic with your family or friends.
The atmosphere on the beach is calm; there are many families with children, and some visitors come to spend time with their pets. Here, you’ll hardly have any problems with teens or party groups.
Pier for Walking and Fishing
Bob Hall Pier runs far into the sea and has a lot of space. There is a restaurant, a walking area, and a fishing area. It’s a good place for saltwater fishing, where you don’t need to spend money on rent a boat. Many locals fish here day and night, and most of them are very friendly (and sometimes even try to explain how to fish). All in all, if you enjoy fishing, you should give it a try on this pier! There’s even a chance to catch a small hammerhead shark here.
If you’re not keen on fishing, paying for entrance is worth it anyway since the pier views are awesome and a stroll over the water will give you a feeling of deep relaxation. Make sure to take a couple of selfies against the seashore and ocean!
