Less than an hour drive from New Orleans, North Shore Beach is located in the Fontainebleau State Park. A great addition to the beautiful park, this small sandy beach which is overlooking the lake is a wonderful place for families and couples. Park entrance fee is $3. RVs are welcome.
Comfortable beach-houses are available for rent at reasonable prices and are standing right on the waters of the Pontchartrain lake (which looks super-romantic). The park is equipped with picnic facilities. There's also a splash pad for kids, volleyball nets. What else? A large fishing pier and a number of worthy restaurants nearby.
Unfortunately, we found the beach itself and the facilities to be rather dirty and not well-maintained. If the administration manages to solve the issue, this place would be no less than perfect for any kind of activity.
If you are interested in visiting, the official website of the Fontaine Bleau State Park provides more in-depth information about the park's amenities and lodging.
