Situated in the middle of Jekyll Island and finally reopened in May 2019, Oceanview Beach Park now offers renovated facilities and convenient access to a sandy beach with fantastic ocean views. It’s a family-friendly place that allows bringing dogs. The park is good not only for beach fun and family picnics, but also for hiking, biking, strolling, birdwatching, and fishing. It is beautiful, clean, easily accessible, and at that uncrowded.
Location and Access
Oceanview Beach Park is located at 655 North Beachview Drive, Jekyll Island, Georgia. It is open all year round. The entrance is free. There is an ample parking area with seven electric vehicle charging stations. For handicapped visitors, there is a dedicated beach access point with a balcony-style overlook.
Amenities
The park has public restrooms with air conditioners and convenient changing rooms. There are outdoor showers to rinse the sand off your body. There are two group pavilions and four family pavilions with picnic tables and grills for cooking. After the recent renovation, all the park facilities are in very good condition.
Sand and Water
Oceanview Beach Park boasts a wide sandy beach with gorgeous views. The sand is white and clean but probably a bit hard for small children. The ocean is brownish because of the marsh water but it’s gentle and warm so swimming is quite enjoyable. At low tide, the water is very shallow so if you want to swim plan your visit accordingly.
Dog Policies
The park and beach are pet-friendly so feel free to bring your furry friend with you. However, it is necessary to keep pets on a leash no longer than 16’ at all times.
