The most commercialized in the Charleston area, Isle of Palms Beach is extremely popular with family visitors thanks to its clean sand, calm waters, ‘no alcohol’ policy, convenient location, and access to all necessary facilities.

Location, Access, and Parking
Isle of Palms Beach is located 25 minutes away from downtown Charleston and features several access points at various locations. The beach has no entrance fee and offers more parking than the other beaches in the area.
There are two paid public parking lots near the beach and metered spaces along Ocean Boulevard. You can also park alongside any street if there is no ‘No Parking’ sign but remember that all four tires must be off the road.
Amenities, Eateries, and Shops
You can use public restrooms and showers beside Coconut Joe’s or at the Isle of Palms County Park. If you bring your own food, there is a nice picnic area with grills in the park. However, if you don’t, there are vending machines and a snack bar on site.
For a more substantial meal, you can go to one of the nearby cafes. Bars, restaurants, and stores are all located within walking distance from the beach.
Sand and Water
The beach is clean and spacious, with super soft sand and beautiful warm water. There are miles of beach, which makes it suitable for long relaxing walks. If you have kids, they will be fond of the multiple shells in the sand.
Swimming is enjoyable and there is a lifeguard station on the beach. For more convenience, there are also beach chairs and umbrella rentals. Usually, the beach is not very crowded but if you want even fewer crowds – go there in the evening.
Dog Policies
Good news for dog owners – there are no-leash hours, and at other times, dogs are allowed on a leash. However, remember that you must clean up after your pet.
