Fort Clinch
This construction bore strategic importance during the Civil War. Now it’s open for visitors to explore its many premises and learn about the life of the soldiers. If you come on the first weekend of the month, you’ll also see a soldier garrison demonstrating various battlefield skills.
Beach Access
The park features several miles of beautiful sandy beach where you can sunbathe and swim in the Atlantic. The sand is hard-packed and you can ride a large-tire bicycle on it during low tides (there are bicycle rentals available). There are many shells and shark teeth to collect. Please exercise caution in the water – there are no lifeguards on duty.
Camping
If you like recreation in the bosom of nature, you’re welcome to camp overnight. Camping costs $26 per night and there are special fees for organized youth and adult group camping. Having paid the fee, you will be able to use electricity and water at Atlantic Beach and Amelia River campgrounds.
Other Activities
The park has numerous trails for hiking and biking. It is recommended to ride a bicycle either early in the morning or late in the afternoon since there is quite a lot of traffic in-between. Other popular activities include shelling and fishing. Wildlife lovers will be glad to watch painted buntings, tortoises, and some other species in the park.
