Bradley Beach is a beautiful public beach on Hilton Head Island. It has a lifeguarded swimming area – a nice spot to spend a day or two. Most of the visitors are friendly and behave so it’s a good place for bringing your family. Another advantage is the beach is not very crowded although there may be busy days in summer.
Location and Access
Bradley Beach is closest to the beginning of the island and it’s quite far from the center of Hilton Head. There is a large metered parking lot not too far from the beach access. However, the way may feel long if you have a lot to carry so bring a wagon – there is a convenient boardwalk running from the parking lot to the beach.
The parking fee is $.50 per hour; you can pay with cash or by credit card. There is no entrance fee for beachgoers.
There are clean restrooms at the parking lot. Note that there are no food concessions so bring your own food and drinks for a beach picnic – the scenic views and fresh ocean breeze make wonders for one’s appetite.
The beach is very safe, clean, and quiet. There is no trash or debris on the beach. The sand is powdery, white, and hard-packed enough for a workout or long stroll. Like the other beaches on the island, Bradley Beach seems to lack shells.
During low tide, the beach is huge! The water is clean and amazingly warm. There are friendly lifeguards on duty in high season, which makes swimming somewhat safer. However, always pay attention to weather conditions and keep a close eye on children.
Dogs are allowed on the beach at certain hours only.
