About this beach

Warnings and hazards

Pay attention to the beach flags indicating current swimming conditions.

Terramar Street Beach features a laid-back and relaxing atmosphere and offers safe, enjoyable swimming under the supervision of professional lifeguards. The beach is usually not very crowded and offers more tranquility than the other attractive sections of Fort Lauderdale beachfront. Recently, the city has done a great job revitalizing and cleaning up this area.

Location and Access

Terramar Street Beach is part of a larger Fort Lauderdale Beach. This beach is located at the intersection of Terramar Street and A1A, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It’s about midway between Sunrise and Las Olas Boulevards, in front of Conrad Hotel and directly across the highway from the Atlantic Hotel. You can access the beach day and night, entrance is free of charge.

LGBT Crowd

Terramar Street Beach is not as popular as the famous gay beach at Sebastian Street but it’s more tranquil. Moreover, it is located closer to all the gay guesthouses and resorts such as the Royal Palms, Alcazar, Villa Venice, Elysium, etc., so it also has a nice LGBT population. Singles as well as couples who don’t feel like walking down to Sebastian Street or who seek more tranquility come here to relax and have some fun in the sun.

Sand and Water

The beach is well-kept and clean. The sand is brown and a bit gritty. The water is crystal clear, blue-and-emerald, and warm. During daytime hours, you can feel quite safe in the water because there are lifeguards on duty. Anyway, please pay attention to the beach flags indicating current swimming conditions, which can vary from safe to risky and dangerous.

Other Activities

Like many other tourists, you can walk down unhurriedly to Sebastian Beach and enjoy the breeze and sea views. During the turtle nesting season, you can see protected nests on the beach. If you’re lucky, you will see how little hatchlings make their way from the shore into the ocean.
