Nicknamed ‘The Family Beach’, Surfside Beach is located in South Carolina and is considered a part of the Grand Strand. It’s a good place to come to relax with your family.

Surfside Beach is located in Horry County, South Carolina. The town has 36 beach access points. Wheelchair access is available at 13th Avenue South, Surfside Pier, 3rd Avenue North, and Melody Lane. One of the more convenient beach access points in the town is near the Surfside Pier, which is located at 11 Ocean Boulevard South. There is parking available and it’s reasonably priced. After October 31, parking is free! Besides the pier, there are 11 more beach area parking lots with pay-station or metered parking spaces.
Facilities and Eateries
At several beach access points, you can find public restroom facilities (3rd Ave North, Surfside Pier, 5th Ave South, 13th Ave South) and outdoor showers (1st Ave North, 2nd Ave North, 3rd Ave North, 8th Ave North, Surfside Pier, 2nd Ave South, 3rd Ave South, 5th Ave South, 6th Avenue South, 7th Ave South, 10th Ave South, 13th Ave South). There are many restaurants and bars within walking distance from the beach.
Sand and Water
This beautiful sandy beach attracts a lot of tourists. There are quite a lot of shells in the sand so you can go shelling. Swimming is enjoyable but be aware of strong currents. There are lifeguard stations at various locations along the beach and it is better to keep close to one of them if you’re not a confident swimmer.
Fishing on Surfside Pier
Originally built in 1953, Surfside Beach Pier has been rebuilt at least three times since then. The entrance fee is small and many people come to fish here. If you want to fish but don’t have your own fishing gear, don’t worry – the pier outfitter offers a full line of reels, rods, tackle, and bait.
Additionally, Surfside Pier has some of the friendliest fishermen and staff who will be happy to assist you with any questions.
Watersports
At 4th Avenue South, you can find Shoreline Water Sports offering various watersports (such as parasailing, banana boat rides, etc.) at reasonable prices.
