Located on South Carolina’s Atlantic shore, the City of Myrtle Beach is a residential community and vacation resort. It is located at the heart of a 60-mile string of beaches called the Grand Strand.
Myrtle Beach offers its residents and multiple visitors warm weather, wide beaches, and a huge range of activities and entertainment including live shows, aquarium, amusement parks, and celebrity-designed golf courses.
The city’s public beach is quite busy due to plentiful tourists but it’s family-oriented, clean, and safe. This is the place to go with your entire family!
Location and Access
Myrtle Public Beach stretches along Ocean Boulevard – you can enter it at many points, just walk down between the buildings or along one of the avenues to the sea. The beach is public so you don’t have to pay for entrance. The area is handicapped accessible.
There are plenty of spots to park nearby. However, parking can be a hassle so if you plan to stay for several days, it may be better to take a 30$ one-week pass in the Pavilion Parking Garage (843-626-7275). There is also free parking but it can be hard to find.

There are such amenities as public restrooms and outdoor showers for rinsing the sand and salt off your body.
Sand and Water
The beach is wide and clean, with fine white sand and lots of shells. You can stroll a long way and do some shelling or spread a towel and lie down. There are chair and umbrella rentals for more convenience.
The water is clear and feels very light for salty water. Swimming in it during the warm months is a relaxing experience. There are attentive lifeguards on duty, so swimming is relatively safe.
Boardwalk
There is a long oceanfront boardwalk very close, with numerous shops, restaurants, souvenir stands, and food concessions. There is also the Sky Wheel and the old-fashioned Family Kingdom amusement park, both within walking distance.
Shopping
If you’re a fan of shopping you’ll never get bored because Myrtle Beach is one of the largest shopping areas in the Southeastern United States! Its numerous stores and malls include Coastal Grand Mall, Tanger Outlets, Barefoot Landing, Myrtle Beach Mall, and Broadway at the Beach.
