Located on the picturesque Key West shore, C.B. Harvey Rest Beach Park boasts convenient facilities and a little sandy beach with palm trees. The park is small but restful and uncrowded – a nice place for a walk or picnic at any time of the day.
The beach itself is about 300 yards long but offers a beautiful and relaxing ambiance as well as allows you to meet some of the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets on the island. In the evening, locals run yoga classes on the beach deck, which is a good opportunity to relax and energize your body and mind.
Location and Access
Located at the end of White Street in Key West, C. B. Harvey Rest Beach Park is easy to get to. It’s open for visitors from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Surprisingly, parking is free and ample. The park doesn’t see too many visitors so getting a parking space is usually not a problem.
Available Facilities
There are restroom and shower facilities. If you bring some food and drinks, you can have a picnic at one of the covered picnic tables that are available on site. There are also some palm trees around the area offering plenty of good shady spots. Children will be happy to discover a nice playground in the park.
Swimming Conditions
The beach consists of soft white sand, which is great for wading and shelling. There are some palm trees to provide the much-desired shade on a hot summer day. The water is very shallow and clear on most days.
However, depending on the season, there may be quite a good deal of seaweed in the water and on the sand. Be aware that you can also encounter Portuguese man-o-wars here, so please exercise caution in the water.
Other Activities
There is the Edward B. Knight Pier going far into the sea – a nice place to stroll or sit, listen to the splashing waves, watch sea life and birds, and enjoy the soothing ocean view. There is a lot of little fish all around the pier. Naturally, local fishermen are frequent visitors here.
Party Time
Once each month locals hold the Full Moon Party in this place, with DJs, live music, various entertainments (including fire shows), cocktails, and a very festive mood.
