A Waldorf Astoria Resort, Casa Marina Beach is a Mediterranean-inspired mansion-style hotel featuring one of the few private beaches in Key West. The resort is known for its premium hospitality and gorgeous sunrise and sunset views from the 1,100 feet palm-fringed coastline. It combines the ambiance of the 1920s with chic flair and modern, well-equipped accommodations.
The private beach is mostly uncrowded. However, presently the hotel fails to deliver on its 5-star rating and is almost outrageously overpriced.
Location and Access
You can find Casa Marina Beach at 1500 Reynolds Street in Key West, Florida. The location is great and it’s an easy walk to Duval Street and downtown. There is paid parking on-site ($35), and also plenty of free street parking (front desk ladies often don’t mention that and insist on valet parking).
You can make use of two tropical pools (one for adults and one for families with kids) with poolside cabanas, indoor and outdoor spa services, and several dining halls and bars. Sports enthusiasts will be glad to discover a fully functional gym. All the facilities are reasonably clean. There are also various watersports facilities as well as scooter and bike rentals on-site.
The white-sand beach is equipped with (not very new) chairs and umbrellas, which the beach concierge will set up especially for you. There are also hammocks attached to the palm trees.
The water is beautiful. The water’s edge is quite rocky, so it’s better to have your water shoes on. Also, note that there may be quite a lot of smelling seaweed in the water. If you don’t like swimming conditions, you can move to the beachside pool, which is a great spot to sunbathe and swim.
Spa and Massage
Residents and non-residents can undergo various spa and massage treatments, including deep-tissue massage and aromatherapy, at Spa al Mare. In addition to that, the extremely popular Ocean Breeze Massage provides its services directly on the beach.
