About this beach

Warnings and hazards

The sand gets hot – don’t take off your shoes.

Venice Municipal Beach is named after the area where it’s located and is famous, among other things, for great beachcombing opportunities it offers – they say it’s the best place to collect shark teeth and the beach bears the title of the Shark Tooth Capital of the World. Apart from that, it boasts nice amenities, making it a comfortable place to spend the entire day swimming and sunbathing.

If you bring your own food, you can make use of the dedicated picnic areas with tables; otherwise, you can buy some snacks at the concession stand on site. Overall, a great place for a day off with your nearest and dearest (including the little ones), spacious and not overcrowded.

Location And Access

Located right at the end of Venice Avenue West in close proximity to downtown, this lovely sandy beach is easy to get to. It’s so close to the city center that you can reach it by walking. The entrance is free and there is easy and ample parking available. The parking lot is also free of charge.

Facilities

There are clean public restrooms and showers to rinse the saltwater off your body. There are rental services on-site, where you can rent fishing poles and shark teeth finders. If you get hungry, there is a snack bar offering hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, and soft drinks. There is also a restaurant along the road. In case you need to replenish your supplies, you can drop in a convenience store near the parking lot. If you have a dog, you can take it to the dog park.

Sand And Water

The sand is quite coarse, with many dark hard particles, and can get very hot, so it’s not recommended to walk barefoot in order not to get burnt. Otherwise, it’s very clean.

The Gulf waters are warm, blue, and clear, much cleaner here than in many other areas. The surf is usually mild. You can feel safe in the water since there are professional lifeguards on duty. Be aware that it may be hard to get in and out of the water due to the steep slope.

Other Activities

They hold free yoga classes on the beach at about 8 a. m. daily, which is an excellent way to begin your day and improve your health. There is a nice pier to walk on. The beach features beautiful expansive ocean views and breathtaking sunsets. With plenty of shells and shark teeth, this beach is an outstanding spot for collecting treasures from the sand.
