Nokomis Beach is the oldest public beach in Sarasota County, Florida. It’s located on the barrier island of Casey Key and offers various recreational opportunities such as sunbathing, swimming, strolling, picnicking, canoeing, kayaking, boating, and playing sports games. There is a playground for children and all necessary beach amenities such as restrooms, rinse showers and food concessions.
This nice, quiet, and laid-back beach is clean, well-maintained, family-friendly, and safe – a perfect place for a quick trip to relax at the seaside, enjoy a beautiful sunset or have a refreshing swim in the beautiful Gulf waters.
Location And Access
Nokomis Public Beach is located at 201 S Casey Key Road in Nokomis, which is north of Venice. There is no admission fee. Parking is free and easy, but it can be limited in high season, so it’s better to arrive early to ensure you get a good parking space. It’s a short walk from the parking lot to the sand and water.
Great Sand And Water
Nokomis Beach boasts splendid sugar-white sand and spectacularly blue water, which features great buoyancy and is good for swimming. Moreover, it’s so clear you can even see the shells at the bottom!
The water gets deep really fast, which is an advantage for those who like to swim. However, weak swimmers and visitors with children may consider it somewhat disappointing, but the good news for them is that there are lifeguards on duty.
Basic Convenience
The beach boasts well-maintained amenities such as public restrooms, rinse showers, a boat ramp, and a fishing pier. If you get hungry, you can check one of the beach snack bars or have a picnic with your own food in one of the dedicated picnic areas with tables and grills.
Various Activities
This beach is a great place for shell hunting. There is a pier to fish off, boardwalk to stroll, boat ramp and dock, canoe and kayak launch. If you’re a sports enthusiast, you’ll be glad to know there is also a playground field.
Wildlife watching and birdwatching are other interesting pastimes for your beach day – there are good chances to spot pelicans, dolphins, and, of course, plentiful seagulls.
Breathtaking Views
Nokomis Beach is a very scenic location with a shining stretch of clean white sand and unobstructed views of the Gulf of Mexico. There are no high-rise condos or hotels on the shore that could spoil the serene nature of this place. Strolling along the turquoise waters and watching a picture-postcard sunset is a must once you’re here!
