On the Beach RV Park, located in Port Aransas on the Gulf of Mexico, offers convenient stay with full hookups for RV travelers on a vast and beautiful Mustang Island shore. It’s only 25 yards to the beach, which is located right beyond the sand dunes, so you can reach it in a couple of minutes via the boardwalk and engage in such activities as sunbathing, swimming, shelling, kayaking, surfing, fishing, kiteboarding, parasailing, and many other. You can bring your own gear or rent it on the beach.
Access And Parking
Apart from staying at the RV park, you can park and camp directly on the beach, if you have a beach parking pass.
Sites And Amenities
The campsites have full hookups, Wi-Fi, and cable TV. Some of the sites feature a Gulf view. There are small laundry facilities, green grass, and some shrubs in the area – very nice. The prices aren’t high, but be prepared to make some extra payments, such as for staying with a dog, having a guest, parking an extra vehicle (for the full list, please check the official website or contact the park office). Apart from that, a $5 deposit is required for a bathroom key, but it’s refunded when you return the key. The restrooms and showers are clean and well-maintained.
Most of the campsites are very tight, which is not a big problem if you come to spend most of your time on the beach or traveling. Nevertheless, if you want to have some space around and feel more comfortable and secluded in your motorhome, it’s better to look for other parks. Note that it’s also quite difficult to maneuver in the parking area.
Beach
The beach is so close that you can hear the sound of the waves. The sand is soft and clean, good for children’s games or building castles. The beach is very long, with beautiful expansive views – a great place for relaxing walks. The water is clear and shallow, being not higher than your waist for quite a long distance away from the shore.
Fishing
Port Aransas is widely known as the Fishing Capital of Texas and holds over 20 fishing tournaments in summer. You can visit some of these events and even participate in them (check the official schedule). Fishing experience in Port Aransas can be very diverse and include pier fishing, shallow fishing, bay fishing, and deep-sea fishing. Try and enjoy!
Wildlife
At Leonabelle Turnbull’s Birding Center, you can see fish, alligators, birds, and other inhabitants of native coastal wetlands. Free tours with guides are offered at the center. Moreover, Port Aransas Beach is considered to be one of the best places to watch dolphins.
