Located near the city of Charleston, Kiawah Island is certainly a must-visit! It’s an absolutely beautiful island destination with lots of activities for everyone.

The clean and pristine beach on Kiawah Island is ideal for swimming or biking and rarely gets overcrowded. There are many golfing opportunities. You can find nature trails at various locations and the wildlife is abundant.

The views on the beach are beautiful and the sunsets are amazing! Kiawah Island is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the big city and a place for the whole family including pets.

Location and Access

Kiawah Island is a beautiful barrier island just about 25 miles away from Charleston, which is a 40-minute car ride. The entrance to the beach on the island is free of charge.

Beach Conditions

The beach is clean and flat. The sand is hard-packed enough for jogging or riding a bike on it. There aren’t many shells. There are beach chairs and umbrellas available for daily rent. The water is clean, warm, and very inviting. Kiawah Island Beach is a good place to look for tide pools.

Biking

In addition to on-beach biking, there are beautiful biking trails all around the island. If you don’t have your own bike, don’t worry – you can rent it. In numerous nature areas, you can see plenty of local wildlife.

Nature

Kiawah Island brims with natural beauty. In addition to a long pristine beach, it boasts well-preserved maritime forests, marshes, and sand dunes, where you can see alligators, deer, bobcats, sea turtles, and sea birds. If you want to explore the nature of the island, enjoy its seclusion and tranquility, there are about 30 miles of hiking trails waiting for you.

Sports

Night Heron Park is a short bike ride away from the beach, with a pool and live entertainment. You can play tennis and golf there – but keep your head up for alligators! Well, if you are into golfing, you can also check out various golf courses around the island, some of them are world-class golf resorts. There are also boat and watersport rentals.

Dog Policies

Good news for dog owners, the beach is pet-friendly! Feel free to bring your furry friend, just don’t forget to pick up after them.
