The beautiful, well-equipped, and family-friendly Crandon Park Beach is one of the best seaside recreational areas in Miami. In addition to extensive beaches and all necessary amenities, there is a Nature Center, Family Amusement Center, and even a spot with cabanas for rent.
Swimming, soaking up the sun, picnicking, biking, playing beach volleyball and tennis, kayaking and paddleboarding are some of the most popular activities in Crandon Park Beach.
Location and Access
Crandon Park Beach is located at 6747 Crandon Boulevard in Key Biscayne, Florida. You can reach the beach using public transportation. There is also a spacious parking lot for those who go by car. On weekends and holidays, there is an entrance fee (parking is $7 for the entire day). The park closes at 6 p.m.
Amenities
The available amenities include restrooms and outdoor showers. If you bring your own food, you can make use of the picnic tables and grills on site. There is also a playground for kids.
Sand and Water
Crandon Park boasts a gorgeous, spacious, palm-fringed beach with white, soft sand and beautiful clear waters. There may be some seaweed on the beach but usually not too much.
The sea is quite shallow, which is good for kids and weak swimmers and not so good for those who wish to swim in deeper waters. The water is usually calm, but be aware there are sometimes strong currents. There are lifeguards on duty.
If you’re into watersports, there is a vendor where you can rent kayaks, paddleboards, or jet ski (the prices are like $25 per hour for a double kayak).
Nature
Featuring various ecosystems including mangroves, dunes, seagrass beds, and coastal hammock, Crandon Park is home to rare fish and wildlife species as well as exotic plants, which are fun to explore. You can take a tour with a naturalist.
Rental Venues
At the south end of the park, there are comfortable cabanas for rent, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Whenever you come to the park, you are likely to see a birthday party or some other event taking place there. Cabana renters enjoy their own showers, parking space, and exclusive picnic tables on the beach.
