About this beach

Warnings and hazards

The speed limit is 15 MPH on the beach.

Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Glass is prohibited.

The dunes are off-limits.

Take account of the high tide line when choosing a campsite.

The city of Freeport boasts a scenic three-mile natural beach where you can sunbathe, swim, fish, watch wildlife, camp, picnic, and just relax in the bosom of nature. The area is serene and still not commercialized so if you need anything please drop by the stores in Freeport before going to the coast.

Overall, it’s a nice place to bring your family, including kids, but be aware there is some amount of traffic on the beach and some visitors like to listen to loud music in their trucks so if you’re looking forward to a quiet, soothing afternoon at the seaside, probably you should choose another destination.

Location and Access

Bryan Beach is located at Bryan Beach Road in Freeport, Texas. For details concerning the fees and operation hours, please check the city’s official website or call 979-233-3526.

Beach Rules

On the beach, you can drive only in a street-legal vehicle (no four-wheelers or motorized carts are allowed) but you must respect the speed limit of 15 miles per hour. Glass containers and fireworks are prohibited. However, you can make controlled bonfires.

If you like, you can turn on your sound system but make sure you don’t disturb the other vacationers. Please keep the area clean and place your trash in the receptacles.

Dog Policies

If you have a furry friend, feel free to take him or her to the beach but please respect the beach rules and keep your pet on a leash at all times.

Sand and Water

The beach is flat and wide, consisting of clean, hard-packed sand. It can get pretty crowded but usually, there is enough space for everyone. The water is clean and quite clear, good for swimming and watersports.

However, the beach is not always perfectly clean – there may be a certain amount of seaweed on the sand as well as in the water, and sometimes visitors leave a lot of litter after themselves.

Camping

Tent camping is allowed on Bryan Beach. When choosing a campsite on the sand, please take account of the high tide line. When the wind is strong and the sea is choppy, the tides can significantly increase.
