Arkansas Bend Park Beach is one of the famous Lake Travis beaches. With two miles of shoreline on Lake Travis, the park offers a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities including camping, hiking, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and boating.
The park area has been recently renovated (summer 2019) and now features eighteen improved campsites, two boat ramps, a playground, barbecue grills, shaded picnic tables, restroom facilities, and water fountains. There are nice paved trails for walking or jogging.
Location and Access
Arkansas Bend Park occupies 323 acres on the north side of Lake Travis in the Lago Vista area and is open every day from dawn till twilight. You need to pay for entrance. For day use, they charge $10 per vehicle or $3 per pedestrian or bicyclist. Overnight tent camping costs $20 while RV camping is twice as expensive and costs $40.
Dog Policies and Other Rules
If you’re a dog owner, you can bring your furry friend to the park or beach, but you must keep it on a leash at all times. You are not allowed to bring glass, use fireworks, or smoke tobacco. Public display of alcohol consumption is also prohibited; nevertheless, you can freely bring and drink alcohol if you put it in a koozie.
Camping
At the moment, the park features eighteen improved campsites for tents and RVs. There are water and electric hookups. The sites are limited and fill up very quickly, especially on holidays and weekends in summer, so it is highly recommended to make reservations in advance.
A maximum of two vehicles may occupy a site. The park charges not by the site, but by the vehicle, so carpooling may be a good idea. You can pay in cash or check only; credit/debit cards are not accepted.
Beach Access
This waterfront park on Lake Travis naturally features beach access. During the recent renovation, the park acquired two new public boat ramps (one with an ADA ramp and a courtesy dock). If you bring your fishing rods, you can engage in some fishing; the lake contains largemouth bass, catfish, white bass, Guadalupe bass, striped bass, and sunfish.
Swimming in the cool and clear waters of Lake Travis is very much enjoyable and is the best way to beat the Texas heat – many visitors do just that. Nevertheless, there are no professional lifeguards on duty, so swim at your own risk.
