Centrally located and impeccably maintained, Humiston Beach Park is very popular with locals as well as tourists. If you decide to spend your day off here, you’ll be able to combine picnicking in the park and relaxing on the beach and visiting a variety of retail shops and eateries in the city’s shopping district.
Humiston Beach Park is a safe and family-friendly place with a sandy beach area supervised by lifeguards during the day hours. It is also great for couples, parties, and cookouts, but not for dog owners since pets are not allowed in the area (except for service dogs).
Location and Access
Located at 3000 Ocean Drive, Humiston Beach Park boasts a central location in Vero Beach’s Beachside Shopping District where you can comfortably combine a few hours of seaside recreation with shopping and dining out. The park is open from sunrise to sunset and entrance is free. There is free parking available but it’s limited. On weekends in high season, the park gets pretty crowded.
Amenities
Apart from the most basic amenities such as paved parking lot, clean indoor restrooms, and outdoor showers, Humiston Beach Park also features a children’s playground with swings and slides and a well-equipped picnic area with sheltered tables, electric outlets, and barbecue grills. You can find changing stalls in the park’s bathrooms.
Eateries
There are two restaurants directly on the beach and some more – within walking distance. The Kilwin Ice Cream Shop is just across the street.
Beach Access
The beach in Humiston Beach Park is nestled on a relatively short shoreline so it isn’t very big. However, it’s lovely! The water is green-and-blue and very clean. Adults, as well as children, will enjoy swimming in it for sure. Lifeguard services are provided from 9:20 a.m. to 4:40 p.m.
Other Activities
The park boasts a 450-foot beachfront boardwalk running above the beach dunes – a nice place to stroll. On Saturday mornings, you can visit the Farmers Market taking place in front of the park. Drop by to buy some organic foods, vegetables, fresh seafood, and baked products. In the evening, they may hold a concert. Be aware that parking can be a challenge during all the events.
