About this beach

Warnings and hazards

After Hurricane Irma, some areas of the park have been undergoing repairs.

Dogs are allowed in the park but not on the beach.

Arrive early to make sure you get a parking space.

In addition to a little pretty beach, Harry Harris Park features hike and bike trails, children’s playgrounds, pavilions, public restrooms, rinse showers, picnic tables, a boat ramp, and a tidal pool for small visitors. It’s a calm and relaxing place with beautiful nature.

If you’re looking forward to a day of all-family fun in Tavernier Key, Harry Harris Park is a destination of choice. Moreover, you can enjoy all its recreational opportunities absolutely for free during the week!

Location and Access

Harry Harris Park is located at Mile Marker 92.5, Oceanside, Tavernier Key (50 East Beach Road). On weekdays, entrance is free and the park is open all day long (from 7:30 a.m. till sunset). On weekends and holidays, non-residents are charged $5 per person.

To launch a boat, you’ll have to pay $30. Parking is free but limited, so it’s better to arrive early. For any reservations, please call the park office in advance.

If you travel with kids, they’ll be excited to discover at least two playgrounds in the park. There are clean and well-maintained restrooms.

If you like picnics in the fresh air, bring your favorite food and feel free to use the picnic area with grills and shaded tables. There are quite many of them, so you don’t have to worry that all the spots will be occupied.

For sports enthusiasts, there are two baseball fields and a basketball court.

Beach Access

The park has a very scenic small sandy beach with clear shallow waters, which are perfect for children’s games and underwater exploration, so don’t forget your snorkeling mask. There is an extended jetty.

The swimming area is protected, so you don’t have to worry about sharks. Unfortunately, the water condition is far from perfect and sometimes visitors complain about its unpleasant smell.

Other Activities

The park is beautiful and there are hike and bike trails to explore it. Nature lovers will be fond of local wildlife including African Rainbow Lizards.

Pet Policies

If you want to spend time with your furry friend, you are allowed to take him or her to Harry Harris Park. However, dogs are not allowed in the beach area so plan your visit accordingly.
