About this beach

Warnings and hazards

Bring water shoes – the sand can get very hot.

There are no lifeguards – swim at your own risk.

This nice and little sandy beach is located at the centre of the town of Granbury on Lake Granbury and offers a variety of recreational opportunities in close proximity to shopping and dining places. In addition to swimming, sunbathing, and castle building, you can rent a kayak (in the summer months) or have a picnic in one of the pavilions with tables and thatched roofs.

Location And Access

Granbury City Beach is conveniently located in the heart of Granbury at 505 E. Pearl Street, which means all kinds of shops, cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, and the historic downtown square are within walking distance, so you don’t have to worry about food or beach stuff too much – if you forget something, you can go and buy it in the town.

Parking is ample. There is no entry fee – everybody can go for free. The beach is open from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m. (or sunset according to the National Weather Service, which is individual for each day). In high season, the beach can get pretty crowded.

Beach Facilities

There are clean public restrooms and rinse showers available. If you bring your own food, you can make use of the shaded picnic pavilions. It’s better to arrive early to make sure you find a vacant pavilion. In case you don’t have any food with you, there is a concession stand where you can buy some snacks and drinking water.

Safe And Friendly

It’s a family-friendly beach with a safe and convenient setting. There are beach monitors who make sure all visitors are following the rules and are always ready to help you with questions. If you or your children are weak swimmers, you can borrow a life jacket from the life jacket loaner station for free.

Swimming Conditions

Now Granbury City Beach has a separated swimming area, allowing for safe swimming and children’s games. The lake water is clean, warm, and welcoming. There are shallow areas, which are good for kids. However, there are no lifeguards, so swim at your own risk. For weaker swimmers, there is a free life jacket loaner station. The sand can get very hot, so bring your water shoes.

Rental Services

Granbury City Beach provides various rental services on site. At Beachside Toys & Takeout, sports enthusiasts can rent paddleboards, tubes, kayaks, surreys, and bicycles for a more energizing recreational experience. You can also buy some snacks there.
