About this beach

Warnings and hazards

Exercise caution – there may be stingrays on the bottom.

Bradenton Beach is a small city in the southern part of Anna Maria Island. Featuring a gorgeous beach area with white sand and clear turquoise waters, it is also known as one of the best beaches in West Coast Florida.

It’s a well-kept and family-oriented place offering a beautiful and relaxing ambiance, safe swimming under the surveillance of lifeguards, and all necessary amenities including clean public restrooms, rinse showers, changing rooms, food concessions, and picnic areas with tables and grills.

Location and Access

Bradenton Beach is located on the southern part of Anna Maria Island, Florida, and features many access points. Traffic isn’t too heavy, but still, it’s better to go early on summer weekends.

There is plenty of free and convenient parking. There is also a free trolley running around the island’s communities, which makes exploring Anna Maria Island even easier and more convenient.

Facilities and Eateries

Bradenton Beach offers plentiful amenities such as restrooms, outdoor showers, changing areas, snack bars, and convenient picnic areas. For visitors with little kids, there is a small playground. There are also lots of bars, restaurants, and shops nearby the beach – almost anything you may need is within walking distance.

Sand and Water

Bradenton Beach is clean and very scenic. The sand is sugar-white and hard-packed, convenient for walking and good for building sandcastles. There are lots of shells, which kids and shell collectors appreciate.

The water is spectacularly beautiful and just delightful for cooling off and swimming on a hot summer day. There are large shallow areas and lifeguards on duty, so swimming is rather safe. Just be aware that there are plenty of stingrays in the area, so exercise caution when in the water.

Other Activities

There are nice picnic areas with tables and grills, so bring your own food to make some delicious barbecue for a picnic on the shore. For sports enthusiasts, there is a dedicated area for beach volleyball.

The sand is hard-packed and convenient to walk on, so once you’re tired of soaking up the sun, you can stroll along the shore and enjoy the soothing serene views of the beach and expansive ocean.

Wildlife

On Anna Maria Island, you’ll get a chance to see dolphins, stingrays, and manatees. There is also a variety of fish and bird species.

Visitor questions:

Question: Are dogs allowed on the beach in January?
Asked by Diana almost 3 years ago
Answer: We are very sorry but dogs aren't allowed on Bradenton Beach all year round including January. That's because there are so many hotels on this beach, and the beach should always be clean and quiet. Even in January, many people come here to spend their vacation. On this barrier island, there are no dog-friendly beaches. The nearest pet-friendly location is Fort De Soto Park Beach. Check it out on our website.
